Biography


Mariel Kalkach is Research Coordinator at the Neurology Department of the University of Wisconsin – Madison and collaborates at Wisconsin Institute for Sleep and Consciousness in different projects. She obtained her MD from Anahuac University in Mexico City in 2014, and her Masters in Bioethics from the same institution with a focus on Neuroethics under the supervision of Dr. Jose Damian Carrillo. She was a visiting scholar at Georgetown University for a year in the Neuroethics Studies group. Her interest in consciousness encompasses conceptual, ethical and clinical aspects.

Research Interests: consciousness, moral conscience, neuroethics, disorders of consciousness, interdisciplinarity, emergent technologies.
